When it comes down to it, the way all of us "rockhounds" started is with a pile of rocks from around our house and a tumbler we got for our birthday, or that we bought with our allowance at a garage sale. For many people, the realization that the gravel from our driveway wouldn't magically turn into gem quality quartz because of the tumbler was a great disappointment to us. However, the more persistent (and intelligent) among us realized that "garbage in - garbage out" does not only apply to computers. All rockhounds remember the thrill they had when there first good batch or rocks came out of their machine.

At Rain City Rocks we want to provide for all of your tumbling needs. We have a nice assortment or stones that are ready to be made beautiful by your tumbler. All of our tumble ready rocks are sold in lots that have the same hardness (Moh's scale) to ensure that your tumbler does what you expected when you bought it. The pictures below show you a sample of what you can expect to receive when you order your rough rock from us. They are not the actual stones you will receive.

Even though obsidian has run through our tumblers many times, it never fails to amaze me how nice it looks when it finishes the tumbling process. There is nothing like volcanic glass to make a soul feel like an expert lapidarist. Please be sure to include plastic pellets for the last few grinds in when using this material to ensure a beautiful finish.
